Where do I find opportunities to speak publicly?
July 8, 2010 - 12:11 pm
I’m looking for a place to advertise and/or a place where one might be considered to speak publicly for groups. Where do people go when they need a speaker?
Toast Masters. They have chapters all over the country.
If you have a gift for gab- that’s the place for you!
You’ll enjoy it.
There are a lot of fascinating people connected to it.

Our university has a "Speakers Bureau" that rents out speakers for all occasions – graduations and installation dinners are where I have heard most of them .

In UK, there are lists of people who are willing to speak publicly, usually writers, sports celebrities, expert witnesses. I’ve come across them, can’t remember where now, but they are probably online now. Try looking for ‘writers’ union’, etc.
These people are usually booked for corporations’ annual dinners, so you could try inviting yourself to those, if you have a track record in speaking or some other kind of prominence.

In church. If your young you might want to become a youth
director and work your way up from there. If you don’t get
the brake your looking for, try a smaller church. Always remember to speak to people in the back row. If you don’t
the people in the back can’t hear you and it is disconcerting
when they walk out.
Good luck.
