Why can’t Americans adapt by learning to speak Spanish it is a beautiful language it is their future ?

They think that it is the language of "illegal aliens invaders". That sounds like a smart comment. When most of our ancestors have been Immigrants.
There’s nothing wrong with speaking in Spanish….it is beautiful. I am bilingual; both in English and Spanish. Does that make me less of a person? No it does not!!!

Actually, I got a degree in Spanish (in addition to my real degree) for this very reason. Well, at least that it is a common language spoken in this country and it’s important to know the cultures around you.

Why can’t the mexican imigrants learn english. I meet many who have been here for many many years and still speak no english. What is worse is it is usually only them. Chinese, japanese, chilean, I have met em all and the only ones not interested in our language is mexican. My sister inlaw learned english after two months from coming over from chile.

People who move here need to learn the language which is spoken here. If I were to move to Quebec, I would expect to learn French. Why can’t the Mexicans learn English if they want to live and work in the Estados Unidos?

What? Haven’t we adapted enough? You have to choose what language you want at the ATM, using 411, calling for movie times, when filling out any official paperwork. You are forced to hear that jabbering wherever you go. Most of us have had our jobs made more difficult because our co-workers now lack even basic English skills. The last time I went to vote in a local election, the poll worker didn’t even speak English! Can you even conceive what a slap in the face that was? And he and 75 others were hired special for that election after a lawsuit was threatened. Oh, before I forget, the damn ballot was in two languages. Here’s an idea: LEARN THE LANGUAGE OF YOUR NEW HOME! I’ve spent time in a foreign country. Guess what, I had to learn theirs. No one wanted to change the damn street signs just to benefit English speakers, so why should we? English: Learn it, Love it, or Leave.

Because they are making the choice to come into OUR country so they should learn our way of living. None is saying that they can’t speak Spanish in their households or with their friends, but if we give into Spanish speaking people when will the Korean, Chinese, German, Polish, Russian etc. to expect their languages to appear?

Castillian Spanish is indeed a beautiful language and worth learning. The version spoken in Mexico is a dumbed down version of the original and no American should bother with it in our own country.
As for it being our future.. Thanks for the laugh. Look around the criminal trash is leaving and it’s only going to snowball from here. Your fear is showing in these repeated wishful questions.

Seriously. This is not a new argument. During the late 1800s and early 1900s, when waves of German, Italian, Polish, Japanese and Chinese came to America, the same issues were confronted. Some people chose not to learn English. Most people did in the attempt to assimilate.
Its true that Spanish is beautiful. But so is French but you aren’t going get all Americans to learn that language either. Yes its beneficial to be bi- or multi-lingual but in most American jobs- english works just fine.
The main language for the United States is English. Immigrants should learn the language of the country they plan to live and work in. No less is expected of Americans who choose to live and work abroad. No less is expected of Spanish speaking people who choose to live in other non-spanish countries— if you were to move to India, would you expect everyone there to "adapt by learning to speak Spanish?" No.
So suck it up and learn English or go to another country where you don’t have to learn English.
If you want to get really technical. True language of America is that of the Native Americans. So lets make a deal- all people who think Americans should learn Spanish: You all learn to speak Pueblo, Sioux, Lacota, Cherokee and what-ever other NA languages are still alive out there. And us Americans will learn Spanish. Deal?

you know what my family is fifth generation spanish. they spoke english and spanish spanish died with us. but you know what.

So let me ask you a question? If I child goes missing down in Mexico…. Do they put the faces on milk cartons in English? When you go into certain public places … Is everything written in English so WE as Americans can read? When You buy a product in mexico do you have directions in 10 different languages? If I decided to come live there and had no money, would YOUR govt support me? So when it comes to your culture( and many others) do you take out christmas from school pageants because "immigrants " dont like it" I get tired of reading everything in Spanish and 10 other languages when this is AMERICA and we should all be speaking English We had to change OUR Pledge of Allegiance for not just hispanics but other cultures as well… I am getting sick of it, I was born and raised here and will die here and I am an American and I am sick and tired of catering to everyone else but US

If you migrate to another country you cant expect that the people there will learn your language. You are the one who has decided to migrate and its up to you to learn the language not the other way around.
You cant go into another country and tell citizens that they should live how you have lived in your country.
This seems to be the problem with immigration to Australia. People move out here and expect us Australians to live their way.

When my parents migrated to Australia they didn’t have any expectations that Australians should live like they did in their country instead they adapted to life in Australia.
