buy any piece of machinery from france. you will become profficient in the language from reading the manual trying to fix the broken junk as it breaks down on a daily basis…also, wear a beret and scarf while you read the instruction manual.

Get a translation dictionary, rent a lot of french movies and start listening very closely. If they have subtitles, that’s good for translation. Watch them a zillion times.
But the fastest way is to do the immersion program where you live and speak the language you are learning on a daily basis for a few months or more.

For me, I would recommend you to get yourself a self language learning program that come with software or hardcopy. Well, it is fast and you can learn like a rocket as mentioned in their slogan. Learning Language like a Rocket.

You can probably visit the link below to the site or the second direct link to the French learning program. Trust me, this work for me previously when I learn spanish. Good luck dude. This is all I can help you.

There is a special French language magazine called "Bien-dire", which means "well-said." This is a magazine that is out every month that gives you the news and current events in French. But not completely in French…difficult words are translated in English for you on various news subjects.

    You can get it online.

While it will probably not teach you the best grammar a fun way if you have the basics would be to get involved with a video game that has french servers and begin interacting with the people there you may be able to get involved with a community that uses voice communication which will let you practice your oral as well as text based communication.

I tried rosetta stone for Spanish. It does not have any translation, grammar or conjugation instructions so it will be very hard to go beyond the basics with it. It is good for the basics as it is pure memorization. There is no way to be fluent with it. Their program is based on the same thing where you see these 4 pictures over and over again. I was disappointed especially for the price I paid.

My college uses another software: tell me more. My goal was to become fluent so it was perfect for me and I bought their individual version. It has a lot of different activities: picture/word association, videos, dialogues,…, includes also grammar and conjugation. It has also more content than any other language software. Their speech recognition is great so you can have a dialogue with the computer. You can contact them to get a free demo and also ask for a Rosetta Stone demo to compare, visit independent reviews websites(About.com, …).

The best way to learn a language would be through immersion, visiting these countries. Learning a language will require some time. In addition to software, you can have books which are useful as well. Audio CDs like Pimsleur for instance might help you out but you cannot get any feedback on your pronunciation so I did not like it so much.

I have to agree with a previous person. The best way to learn French is to go to their country and immerse yourself in the language. For example, I lived in Ecuador for 2 months to learn Spanish. It was an incredible experience. I learned to speak almost fluent Spanish and experience the beautiful culture of the people. My whole trip and living expenses cost me under $2300.

" does the end justify the means " my kids learned to speak english fluently thanks to directv and dishnetwork .i had to ask a " cousin " of mine to subscribe to either one and send me a receiver to watch whatever tv package i have subscribed to. since carlos slim who is the second richest man inthe world, finds it unethical and inconvenient to his profit making plans for me to watch american tv programming , it is then considered illegal to do so here in mexico.
