Even if you try speaking false , due to magic you will be unable to do so ! Tell me what would be the consequences of this special skill you have acquired ?
Edit – I think 100 % truth looks impractical and impossible , that is why we have learned to speak "white lie" which is better than truth !

There are two ways of answering this.

First case, where you speak the practical truth i.e what appears to be truth to you. The result will be you will be hated and at times find yourself at very uncomfortable situations.

Second case, philosophicaly speaking, there is we don’t know the Absolute Truth, most of the time. Say, you say your mobile technically "rung" but it was in silent mode. Did you lie? Your friend claims he saw an accident happening and you report it believing it to be true. Was it really a truth?

My company requires for all to speak English. We have a Delivery driver that speaks VERY little English (he speaks Spanish ONLY). And the reason he was hired was because my boss’s daughter felt sorry for him. Now, I speak spanish (now, it’s not perfect- but enough to get by). And I’ve been speaking w/ him in spanish. My boss told us to speak English, because that’s the only way he’ll learn. And he still speaks spanish to me. How do I nicely tell him not to speak to me in spanish anymore? He is mad because he has to speak english. But he knows he needs to speak it if he wants to work here.

I feel like if you come to this country at least make the effort to learn to speak our language. I think this country accomodates immigrants and it’s not fair.
He’s lived in this California for over 25 yrs, and he hasn’t taken the time to learn it. He’s told me his children dont know how to really speak spanish. My mother has been in this country for over 25 yrs too, and she learn to speak it, it’s not perfect but she hast aken the effort to learn it. My job deals with the African-American community, so you definetly need to know how to speak english. And me being half Black and Half Latino I get the best of both worlds.

You can just tell him by example. When he starts speaking to you in Spanish just answer him in English…everytime. If he ask you why you are doing this just tell him that the boss says that you have to speak in English and that you don’t want to make him mad.

Album: By the Way
Title: Universally Speaking

Enjoy it in HD!

Lyrics:
I saw your face
Elegant and tired
Cut up from the chase
Still, i so admire
Bloodshot your smile
Delicate and wild
Give me she-wolf style
Rip right through me

Silveretta the jets of a lifetime
Go and get her,
I got her on my mind
Nothing better, the feeling is so fine
Simply put, i saw your love stream flow

Come on, baby,’cause theres no name for
Give it up and i got what i came for
Universally speaking
I take it back and you make me nervous
Nothing better than love and service
Universally speaking
I win in the long run

I saw your crime
Dying to get high
Two of a kind
Beats all hands tonight

Silveretta the jets of a lifetime
Go and get her,
I got her on my mind
All the better, to make it is so fine
Simply put, i saw your love stream flow

Come on, baby, ’cause there’s no name for
Give it up and i got what i came for
Universally speaking
I take it back and you make me nervous
Nothing better than love and service
Universally speaking
I win in the long run

Silveretta the jets of a lifetime
Go and get her,
I got her on my mind
Nothing better, the feeling is so fine
Simply put, i saw your love stream flow
Simply put, i saw your love stream flow

Let’s go

I didn’t think Catholics or Baptists did it, but some people seem to think they do.

Are there churches that have different interpretations of what speaking in tongues means?

The concept of "denominations" is contrary to Christ.
He only nominated one way – all MUST be born of the Spirit and you hear the sound thereof with EVERYONE (John 3:6-8). This refers to speaking in tongues – seee Acts 2:4, 33, 39; 10:44-46 etc.

Individual christians should practice this ability, it’s "praying in the Spirit".
Meetings should "practice it, 2 or 3 "gifts" of tongues, each foillowed by interpretation.

I’m planning to take the CPE and other English certifying examinations.
But I’m really bad at speaking logically and conveying my opinions.
So I need books on this subject.
Please tell me some books that will teach me how to speak in English.
I’m definately looking for a book with phrases that are frequently used in interviews, debates etc.
And any advices are apreciated. Thanks in advance!

Your explanation was quite good in many ways, so you might be letting fear get in the way. Take your time to think the thing through then find a comfortable tone and moderate speed to speak. Enunciation is very important so a moderate speed will often compensate.

I’ve known people from places like India and Nigeria that speak English fairly well, but there are cultural accents that make some expressions unintelligible to American ears. Part of the problem is they speak so quickly that the listeners do not get to make prompt interpretation.

I know that it is an old joke that "Americans believe that any people can understand English, pro-vide-ed that they speak it slow-ly enough" (the last part is drawn out slowly and in an exaggerated form). But it is often true, speaking very slowly reflects poorly on you, but speaking very quickly (India and Nigeria example) can leave a listener missing most of a sentence because they are still trying to extract words from those with different syllables accented or short vowels made long, or some consonants and consonant combinations have unexpected extra sounds.

Again, I suspect you will do better than you think.

Try this one: http://books.google.com/books?id=Zm_C0KGnKB4C

What are some lessons you’ve learned "the hard way"? How far have you come, how are you still struggling, and how would you recommend others tackle their own fears with public speaking?

I think the only way to truly get over the fear is to do it unfortunately. One thing that really helped me was that I did some training through my workplace. As part of this training they got us to do these embarrassing but funny things, and everyone had to do them so nobody felt any more stupid than anyone else. One of the things was bursting into the room Kramer-style from Seinfeld. But the whole point of it was to take us so far out of our comfort zone in standing up and making a fool of ourselves in front of people, that when it came to standing up and making a presentation it seemed like a piece of cake. That was the real turning point for me. Now I don’t love it, but it doesn’t keep me awake at night if I know I have to present. The other tip is really know your material. If you’re comfortable with what you’re presenting it’s not as scary, because the fear is about being judged. If you know your stuff the fear of people asking questions you can’t answer isn’t so bad.

Idiomaticity of Language and the TOEFL iBT Speaking and Writing by Michael Buckhoff

In terms of language use, the human raters on TOEFL iBT speaking and writing will judge the Idiomaticity of your language use. But what does this mean? They will determine how natural sounding your speaking and writing is. In other words, would a native speaker express your idea the same way. One of the more difficult hurdles for advanced learners of a new language, idiomaticity of language requires that you avoid unnatural or odd-sounding words and phrases. For example, a native speaker of American English would never say, Merry New Year? Or, it would be quite odd to ask a native speaker of American English, How many years are you since birth?

Of course, being as natural sounding in your writing and speaking will help you to get a higher score on the TOEFL iBT. It will demonstrate to the human raters that you have had extensive experience using the English language and therefore understand the appropriate words and phrases that should be used in academic contexts.

Despite the importance of this, many of my advanced TOEFL students continue to use expressions like on the other foot instead of on the other hand.

Consider the following two sentences, one of which was written by an Advanced TOEFL student in my class:

Then usually students have two of three part time jobs needless to pay tax as much as extra work.

Then, some students may have two or three part-time jobs without having to pay taxes for this additional work.

Which sentence sounds more natural to you?

Why do advanced learners have trouble with idiomaticity of language? Most likely, it is because of the students lack of experience with speaking and writing the English language. These same advanced learners often depend heavily on translation dictionaries, further worsening their language use problems. Differences between expressions in languages can cause advanced learners to use odd or unnatural sounding expression.

So, what can you do about this? The answer is simple: immerse yourself in the English language so that you get exposure to natural sounding American English from television shows, movies, music, magazines, newspapers, and books. Get more familiar with http://www.eslcafe.com/idioms/ idioms and http://www.eslcafe.com/pv/ phrasal verbs and use them in speech and writing.
