How long does it take to learn a musical instrument?

June 29, 2010 - 1:28 am 3 Comments

I gather that some instruments are easy to learn than others.Yet for people who can play several well, would possibly have noted the difference when learning. Of course everyone is different and yet for example the difference between string (guitar) and brass (tenor horn), which is easier to learn.
How much practice time ought one give to learning a musical instrument to see and hear that the chosen instrument is a good (right) choice and worth continuing with. I really like (love) the idea of playing a musical instrument well.

If you HIRE A TEACHER you should be playing simple songs in a month. To get really good at any instrument takes about 10,000 HOURS of practice and performance

How to learn and use correct and impressive adjectives or adverbs?

June 26, 2010 - 2:47 am 2 Comments

Please if anyone has tips or know a website/ book from which I can learn simple, easy and commonly used adjectives/ adverbs. Please do not say read more, or practice. I have been already doing it. Instead of using difficult words and phrasal verbs , I feel for non-native English people, like me and my country mates, It is better to use adjectives and adverbs. I know and have learned numerous, but can not recall while writing or speaking those promptly. Any tips or source?

You have asked a really interesting question. (The words "really" & "interesting" are adjectives because they are describing a noun. Correct? Okay.)
I truly hope that you will fearlessly and promptly seek & find a church, school, or college that will let you study & learn this ability. (The word "truly" is an adverb because it is modifying/describing a verb. Correct? Okay. )
I think that you write very nicely already. I believe that the best I can do is to encourage you to "pat yourself on the back" to say you are speaking and writing in the English language remarkably good for not having heard it spoken since your birth. It just takes time. Try and understand and accept this as fact, please.
Here is a book recommendation that I trust will help you a lot, also. It
is called a thesaurus. It is better than a dictionary in many ways, I think; to suit your needs for more adjectives and adverbs. So, write down all the descriptive words for verbs. (Many adverbs end with the letters "LY". For example: quickly, slowly, kindly, gently, lightly, heavily, colorfully, honestly.)
Many adjectives {words that describe nouns_people, places, things} end in "ing". For example: The bubbling brook, the singing bird, the sparkling dew, the rolling waves of wheat.
I dare say you already know and use many of these words.
Now, when you take the time to look up each word in a thesaurus–You will see written "synonyms"–{words that mean the same thing as} the words you already are comfortable with.
I also want to ask you to "do yourself a favor" by enrolling in some free or affordable class for "English as a Second Language" (ESL). We have specially-trained teachers to help our "adopted" new citizens & visitors. Just think! You can help yourself & your fellow country-mates, as well. Good luck and God bless you, too.

Run and tell all of the angels
This could take all night
Think I need a devil to help me get things right
Hook me up a new revolution
Cause this one is a lie
We sat around laughing and watched the last one die

I’m looking to the sky to save me
Looking for a sign of life
Looking for something to help me burn out bright
I’m looking for a complication
Looking cause I’m tired of lying
Make my way back home when I learn to fly

I think I’m done nursing the patience
I can wait one night
I’d give it all away if you give me one last try
We’ll live happily ever trapped if you just save my life
Run and tell the angels that everything is alright

I’m looking to the sky to save me
Looking for a sign of life
Looking for something to help me burn out bright
I’m looking for a complication
Looking cause I’m tired of trying
Make my way back home when I learn to fly
Make my way back home when I learn to

Fly along with me, I can’t quite make it alone
Try and make this life my own
Fly along with me, I can’t quite make it alone
Try and make this life my own

I’m looking to the sky to save me
Looking for a sign of life
Looking for something to help me burn out bright
I’m looking for a complication
Looking cause I’m tired of trying
Make my way back home when I learn to

I’m looking to the sky to save me
Looking for a sign of life
Looking for something to help me burn out bright
I’m looking for a complication
Looking cause I’m tired of trying
Make my way back home when I learn to fly
Make my way back home when I learn to fly
Make my way back home when I learn to, learn to, learn

What are the best ways to learn how to play the guitar and what are the best electric guitars to learn on?

June 19, 2010 - 5:32 am 3 Comments

Ive wanted to learn how to play the guitar for a really long time now and was wondering what are the best ways to learn how to play without getting lessons (its hard for me to get around) and wanted to know what are the best guitars to learn on? Like brand and what type?

And yes I know this is the wrong section.

Okay. you can get a teacher or you can self teach. a teacher would be easier but self teaching would be cheaper. If you want to self teach i would just buy a bunch of guitar books or i would go online for websites with chords and grafts and stuff. unless you already know how to read music i wouldn’t bother. unless you wanna be like a really serious guitar player your not going to need it. if i were you i would read tabs. Tabs are like music its like a big picture of the guitar and it shows you were to put your fingers. i can give you some good websites for that also. if you wanted to get a guitar i would either get an epiphone acoustic or a fender strat pack that comes with a fender strat a gig bag a tuner a small amp and some pics its also not very pricey and the guitars amazing. OK here are some websites for tabs=) below in the sources .

How can i learn more about current events?

June 16, 2010 - 1:31 pm 4 Comments

I love politics and I love debating. I am a very conservative person and I want to learn more about current events so that I can actually have good debates with people. I am 17 and I have learned that the key to good debating is having your facts down. Where can I go to learn more about current events?

Yes! Good for you. Here are some of my favorite websites. They are very good:

biggovernment.com
thedanashow.wordpress.com
michellemalkin.com
foxnews.com

And, for more fun, watch Sean Hannity and On the Record with Greta Van Susteren. They seem to be the most balanced in my humble opinion.

Good luck and have fun!

I want to learn how to play the sax but I have no music background, where should I start?

June 8, 2010 - 12:56 pm 6 Comments

When I was a kid, I’ve always wanted to learn how to play the sax but I never had the time or money back then. Now that I do have time and money, I’m thinking of studying how to play the sax at my home. But the thing is I have absolutely no music background, I don’t even know how to read notes.

Is there any website that could help me start learning? Also, is it possible to learn how to play the sax by home-study given my predicament?

The best thing to do is to start taking lessons. You’ll be a lot better off doing that considering you have no musical backround.
